This is the capital city of Copperbelt province. It is the third-largest city in Zambia and the second oldest city in the country after Livingstone. It was formed in 1904 where it began as a trading post.
Today, the city has established itself as a light industry sector and commercial centre. It has a copper refinery, metallurgical plant, tire factory, auto assembly plant, sugar refinery among others.
